Defending democratic elections
Alongside our work preventing racial
gerrymandering, we have fiercely defended
the integrity of democratic elections. Some
examples of this work are below:
•
We challenged an at-large voting system
discriminating against Latinx residents in
California.
•
In Tennessee, we helped to repeal a law
that imposed extraordinarily burdensome
conditions on organizations that conduct
voter registration drives.
•
In the United Kingdom, we provided legal
advice to the Politics Project, which works to
engage minority youth voters in elections.
•
We protected the voting rights of Virginians
who were disenfranchised because of a prior
criminal conviction.
