2.1. Spatial planning at sea
As of 30th September 2022, METI and MLIT
have, based on information gathered from
various prefectures:
(a) designated eight zones as Promotion
Zones;
(b) identified a further five zones (in Aomori,
Yamagata, and Chiba prefectures) as
promising zones in which they will immediately begin preparations for the council’s organization and the government’s
