CT-REQ-2995 Advancing Racial Justice Pro Bono Report 01 TW V3 - Flipbook - Page 3
Our commitment to
advancing racial justice
In June 2020, Hogan Lovells made a formal pledge to devote at least 65,000 pro bono
hours through 2023 to breaking down the deeply rooted, systemic barriers in society that
profoundly impact people of color.
By the end of 2023, we devoted approximately 107,000 pro bono hours globally towards
the Advancing Racial Justice initiative, 65% more than our original commitment.
This core commitment to advancing racial
justice was undertaken against the backdrop
of the firm’s long history of using our power,
influence, and legal skills to fight on behalf of
the oppressed. Hogan Lovells was the first
firm, in 1970, to create a freestanding pro bono
practice, and we are proud of our contributions
to the fight against institutionalized racism over
the past 50-plus years.
We are heartened by the impact our
colleagues have had in furthering our pro
bono commitment to advancing racial justice.
At the same time, we recognize that there is
significantly more work to be done to combat
systemic racism and intolerance worldwide.
Hogan Lovells remains steadfast in our promise
to identify, engage in, and advance racial justice
in matters such as those highlighted herein.
