3.1.2 Feed-in Premium System("FIP")
Amendments to the FIT Act have taken effect
on 1 April 2022. They introduced, among
other things, a Feed-in Premium system ("FIP
system"), the aim of which is to reduce system
costs for the entire electricity market while
ensuring investment incentives for renewable energy sources and promoting market
integration8 .
Under the FIP system, a standard price ("FIP
price") is set based on the costs normally
considered to be incurred when the supply
of renewable electricity energy is efficiently
implemented, and in consideration of price
targets and other circumstances.
a)
The amount of the Feed-in Premium
(referred to as the supply promotion
grant, or kyoukyu-sokushin-koufukin
in Japanese; "FIP") is decided every
month based on as follows:
FIP = premium unit price (which
means the FIP price – the reference
price*) x the amount of renewable
electricity energy supply
* The reference price is determined automatically
by the market price, etc.
b) The FIP is calculated and paid in
accordance with the following steps:
(1) confirmation of annual average
market price for the previous year;
(2) confirmation of the reference
price and confirmation of the
